Hewland loses out in [.tv] auction
Article Abstract:
Hewland International, an independent production company, is believed to have lost in the bidding to produce all original commissions for BSkyB channel [.tv]. No contracts have been signed between BSkyB and the winning bidders but the bulk of the original programming, which runs ten hours per week, is expected to be distributed between Prospect Pictures and Illuminations. Prospect Pictures will control five hours of the schedule while Illuminations will have four hours. Diverse Productions said it won the remaining one hour of the slot.

Carlton plans to construct transmission centre for DTT
Article Abstract:
Carlton Communications will begin testing a transmission center for its digital terrestrial television (DTT) services in the late summer of 1998. The multi-million pound digital play-out center, which will cater to Carlton's four digital channels, is expected to go on line in November 1998 to coincide with the unveiling of British Digital Broadcasting (BDB). The center, which will be capable of serving up to 16 channels, will initially air Carlton Films, Carlton Entertainment, Public Eye and Carlton Select.
